CO2 emissions calculations for the logistics sector

All companies need to contribute to the fight against climate change. Emissions of greenhouse gases, such as CO2, must be drastically reduced. Therefore, companies are expected to map exactly how much of this they emit and share this information with customers, partners and regulators. Existing and upcoming legislation such as the CSDD, the CSRD and the German Lieferkettengesetz even require companies to record and report on emissions along the entire supply chain.

International supply chains

The logistics sector has a large share of CO2 emissions. Therefore, the sector is asked to record them correctly and allocate them to clients and customers. However, in logistics, accurately and correctly measuring, recording and allocating CO2 emissions is a major challenge. International supply chains are complex. In addition, there is a wide variety of transport modes and chains.

Loginex Carbon Intelligence: reliable and efficient reporting

When calculating and allocating CO2 emissions in logistics, several standards and methods are important. These include the European standard EN 16258 for calculating greenhouse gas emissions, the Carbon Footprint of Freight Transport (COFRET) method and the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework. Loginex uses these standards and methods and is prepared for the upcoming ISO 14083 standard that will come into effect in 2023.

Loginex Carbon Intelligence SaaS platform

The Loginex Carbon Intelligence SaaS platform is specifically designed for logistics companies to calculate CO2 emissions in a validated way. Under the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), large European companies are already required to report on sustainability. Under the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), this will also apply to medium-sized companies. These will also have to collect CO2 emission information from their business partners and suppliers in the chain. Loginex complies with all applicable European standards and other laws and regulations. You can use the software when compiling sustainability reports in the context of CSRD.
